Why AIMC Bangladesh?
AIMC Bangladesh is at the forefront of transforming education by integrating environmental responsibility with cutting-edge media and communication training. Our commitment to sustainability is woven into every aspect of our work, from the courses we offer to the partnerships we build. We recognize that in order to address global challenges like climate change, inequality, and digital disruption, we must equip the next generation with the skills, knowledge, and ethical awareness necessary to lead with purpose.

By aligning education with environmental sustainability, we prepare students to lead in areas that promote eco-friendly practices, social justice, and technological innovation.
· Global Impact, Local Roots: As a Bangladeshi institution, AIMC is deeply committed to the local context while maintaining a global perspective. Our programs are tailored to address the unique challenges of Bangladesh, including climate change, social transformation, and sustainable development, making us an integral part of the nation's progress.
Why It's Important
The world is at a critical juncture where traditional education models are no longer sufficient to address the environmental, social, and technological challenges we face. AIMC Bangladesh provides an education that is not only relevant to today’s media and communication sectors but also urgently needed to foster sustainable development. By focusing on environmental-friendly practices and empowering students to drive social change, AIMC is shaping a future where media is used as a tool for advocacy, awareness, and action.
In a world where climate change and environmental degradation affect everyone, communication is key. AIMC teaches students not only how to tell compelling stories but also how to do so in ways that inspire action and promote sustainability. Whether through film, photography, or new media, our students learn to amplify voices, spread awareness, and mobilize communities for change.
What Makes AIMC Unique?
· Sustainable Education Focus: AIMC is one of the few institutions in Bangladesh that integrates sustainability into its core educational framework. Every course, whether it’s in film, communication, or aviation security, is designed with environmental consciousness in mind. This ensures that our graduates are prepared to tackle the world's most pressing environmental challenges.
· Holistic Learning Approach: Our programs don’t just focus on technical skills—they instill a sense of social responsibility and ethical leadership. AIMC graduates are equipped not only to succeed professionally but to lead movements for social and environmental justice.
· Innovation & Technology: AIMC stays ahead of the curve by constantly updating its curriculum to reflect the latest trends in media, technology, and communication. We incorporate new media, virtual reality, and digital convergence to ensure that our students are at the cutting edge of their fields.
· Network of Changemakers: Our extensive network of professionals, educators, and thought leaders creates a vibrant community where collaboration and innovation thrive. AIMC is more than an educational institution—it’s a hub for those who want to make a difference.
The AIMC Approach – Built on Five Pillars:
OUR STORY
The Birth of AIMC Bangladesh: A Journey of Vision, Grit, and Transformation
Every organization has a story. Ours began on June 1, 2012, with nothing but a bold vision and an empty canvas. The name Asian Institute of Media and Communication Bangladesh (AIMC) was first spoken by our late advisor, Kayes Chowdhury, a celebrated writer, director, and actor, whose passion for media and the power of storytelling ignited the spark of what would become AIMC. His belief was simple yet profound: that the right name, the right purpose, and the right people could create waves of change. And so, from zero—no funding, no grand backing—we embarked on a journey.
We didn’t have wealth, we didn’t have foreign donors, but what we had was the conviction that to start something meaningful, all we needed was a space. A space not just in terms of location, but a mental and creative space—a space for ideas, a space for people who believed that media and communication could move society forward. This space wasn’t just a place to work; it was a battleground for change, a cradle for creativity, and a platform for empowerment.
With this, we set out to build. Not just an organization, but a movement. A three-year strategic plan was our blueprint—a plan to reach out to educational institutes, universities, film societies, and marginalized communities, offering creative learning that blended theory with hands-on practice. We rejected the safety net of foreign funding, choosing instead the harder but more meaningful path: becoming a sustainable organization, driven by passion, not dollars.
For over 11 years, AIMC has grown from a fledgling idea into a living, breathing force in the media landscape of Bangladesh. Every step forward was hard-won. We faced opposition, skepticism, and countless obstacles as we fought to establish the importance of media and communication studies in Bangladesh. The path wasn’t easy—challenges loomed at every corner—but we never backed down. With each hurdle, we pushed harder, and with each setback, we found new strength.
Through it all, what kept us moving was a young, passionate team—people who believed that change wasn’t just possible, but necessary. A team that understood that the power of media wasn’t just in telling stories, but in shaping the future, inspiring movements, and creating examples for others to follow.
AIMC Bangladesh wasn’t just born out of an idea—it was born out of passion, persistence, and a desire to transform society, one story, one course, and one challenge at a time. And with every year, we only grow stronger, more committed to our mission, and more certain that we’re here to lead, not follow.
